I was saving for something
running shoes, perhaps
or a ringside seat
to a circus twice lived
maybe a shadowbox
an answer, a cure
to once narrow thoughts
or my lost faith set free
a shadowbox! meant to veil
this shelter that receives
shoes stripped of laces
soles cast to the street
